In our efforts to appease the atomic octopus that lives beneath the Black Rock Desert, in hopes that it bestows great weather conditions at Burning Man 2026, we humbly offer this. An Octopus Of The Day, or Occo The Day. We think the more fun weird pictures we make, find, or post… the better the chances are for a great weather year.

That kind of challenge sounds like our kind of fun. We may not have a post every single day, but we’ll be thinking about it. We’ll share some of our favorites as often as we’re able to. Today’s Occo The Day entry is hauntingly beautiful, a mechanical steampunk atomic octopus hovering over the empty desert. This is another case of playing with generative AI and getting unexpected results. It may not have been what we were looking for, but it was an interesting new direction and something we feel is worth keeping.
