In our efforts to appease the atomic octopus that lives beneath the Black Rock Desert, we hope it bestows great weather conditions at Burning Man 2026. Therefore, we humbly offer this. An Octopus Of The Day, or Occo The Day. We think the more fun weird pictures we make, find, or post… the better the chances are for a great weather year.
That kind of challenge sounds like our kind of fun. We may not have a post every single day, but we’ll be thinking about it. We’ll share some of our favorites as often as we’re able to. Today’s Occo The Day entry is more bot than occo, but came out of the same series of prompts that we used to create several mechanical octopi – a griddle-attentive grilled cheese maker. While only a couple appendages are directly visible, several seem to appear in the shadow. We like the clockwork mechanics so much, we’re willing to overlook the obvious lack of tentacles – maybe they’re out of our view, operating grill controls. This is another case of playing with generative AI and getting unexpected and unwanted results for the project at hand. Still, we discovered an interesting image.
